Attack imminent wasn’t it always

July 1, 2007 at 3:26 pm (Uncategorized)

Ok there is a first for everything so this is a response to a blog written by Jordan (found here) which I must admit I found very interesting but I though I would put a more pessimistic view on the situation.
Firstly I don’t think I can be the only person since 7/7 to think another attack would be imminent so when there is suddenly a lot of media hype about our new PM raising the UK security level to critical meaning attack was imminent I found my self questioning well surely one has been imminent for a while. Don’t get me wrong thank god that those 2 car bombs where found and that at Glasgow airport the burning car didn’t cause too much damage but it takes that for the government of this country to sit up and go oh yer an attack could be imminent hello I’m 17 and I knew that shouldn’t perhaps all these security measures have been in place permanently since 7/7 any way.
Now for another downer before I move onto the positive are we protecting and surveying the correct things should instead of increasing security at airport and train stations should we be looking at things such as ferries and other high profile targets but then again perhaps we have now given Al-Qaeda what they want about what will probably be a few weeks of 24 hour news coverage instilling a sense of fear in the British public lets hope the still all have that stiff British upper lip we may need it.
On a positive not we caught them in the act have evidence and at least it shows our traffic enforcers and packing attendants couldn’t be any better than they already are, well rant over perhaps my next blog post I wont actually complain we shall see.

Hello Im a Mac and Im here to spread cr*p about the PC

May 19, 2007 at 3:22 pm (Random)

Ok Apple have now actually pissed me off.
I was browsing the web today and in the middle of reading an article suddenly this childish music starts and these voices proclaim “Hi I’m a Mac and I’m a PC and I’m a Mac genius” well after eventually finding out it was coming from this little advert on the page containing a American Mac and PC advert. I then for no other reason than boredom watched the advert only to discover Mac was claiming people in the Apple shops at the so called “genius bar” knew not only everything about a mac but everything about well everything. This advert left me kinda pissed at Mac (more so than usual) so i decided to go watch the rest of the Mac and PC adverts both the US and UK ones
Now the US ones really did seem to slate the PC implying such things as PC’s are only for work and that upgrading to Vista is problematic well first both this PC im on and my laptop upgraded to Vista with no problems and as for the PC only being used for work since i have had Vista i have made a DVD using windows DVD maker and added all my photos into a digital photo album so haha Apple.
One oft he most interesting things i found though was watching Mitchell and Webb as Mac and PC and i found this interesting shot as the video labeled “Office Posse” starts.Im a PC why do you hate me so Now in the screen shot i have taken you can see exactly what i mean when i say it looks like David Mitchell would rather be in anything other than that suit and that Robert Webb would just love to be any where else (maybe even kicking one of the Microsoft office people behind him) this really just makes me think Apple must be paying them a lot of money to do that because they look like they hate it.
Any way enough of my rant.

Year 11’s leaving friday and cinema after school what a day

May 14, 2007 at 8:22 pm (Friends, School, X Team)

Sooo long time no speak for now i wont bore you with everything that happened since my last post but i decided to write a reply to Jo’s post bout her leavers day and add in my 2 pence you can find her one here it is time to talk about the year 11’s.
Well first cue the Dr Who music jump in the tardis and lets head back to when i was in year 10.
At the start of one of the productions that year Jordan walked into the hall wiht a short red headed girl in tow (at the time i thought oh not another one of Jordan special girl friends) he told us her name was Jo and that she was going to be joining the x team (or whatever it was called then) and for one production we had her on lighting and she then moved on to stage crew most likely cos i kept teasing her that Jordan had a fetish about short ginger people which probably scared her away.

Now fast forward to the about September 2006 and Jo started coming in the hall every lunch and we all got very close to her and she was now one of the gaggle (to people outside the gaggle she became one of our closest friends).

Now jump back in the tardis to today well last Friday to be precise it was Jo’s last day at Shenfield high school and i watched her leaves assembly which ended in many tears but seemed better than mine last year. Then the X team sent the year 11’s packing and packed up the assembly for them big mistake took ages but any way in the end me and the rest of the sixth form members of the X team (minus Paul) left school and went to the cinema to say good bye to Jo and Nicole who we would both miss and every thing went fine we saw spider man 3 and then went pizza hut and then we had to say good bye and heavens opened both from the sky and Jo’s eyes. so Jordan calmed her down and we all made jokes to try and cheer her up which looking back wasn’t working but any way she cried and cried and it rained and rained and she managed to get make up on Jordan’s shirt and even some on mine and eventually we said good bye only to see her again the next day but more about that in another blog.

To finish i would just like to say good bye Jo you have been a great member of the X team you have risen to every challenge and made each show better than the last you strive for perfection and you will be missed (although you are coming back). I would also like to say that i will never forget what you did for X team and how u helped me and u will always be one of my very best friends.

So mushy stuff over with talk soon

Im driving so get out my way

April 5, 2007 at 10:07 pm (Driving)

Well on Monday i had my second driving lesson. Now i had been putting this of for quite some time now as i didn’t really like the instructor i had on the first lesson and i was very busy, but then two to three weeks ago i got a call from the AA driving school to tell me that my old instructor had quit and i had been assigned a new one again i though nothing of it and just left it at that.
Then last Thursday the phone rang and my mum called for me telling me it was my new driving instructor, now this came a quite a shock, so i spoke to this guy and eventually ended up booking a 2 hour lesson for Monday 4th.
So Monday came round and i got a bit nervous but I found my license and away i went.
First of all is was just quite sat listen to this guy talk as we drove to Writtle and when we eventually got there i felt a lot better. He then asked me how much i remembered from my first lesson (now seeing as this was in December) i told him not a lot so he took me through all the basics then set me off driving round this sort of circuit of roads and I’m pleased to say i did well and any mistakes i made the instructor just made a joke about it and i felt better and actually didn’t make the mistake again.
Eventually he ended the 2 hours by making me do some right turns then he drove me back whilst telling me about the theory test and well lets just say I’m a lot more confident now and i have to at least pass my theory before September when they make it harder. and then i need pass my practical before next summer when we (that being me and my mates) are all going on holiday and i need to drive.
So more lessons on the horizon for me.

My first real entry

April 4, 2007 at 1:21 pm (Random)

Right my first entry for real now.
First i would like to say sorry to jo 10 times she will know why lol
Now on to what has been happening recently well first there was the production Monster that Ate 3B that went fine on the night which is amazing as it wasn’t doing very well at first. Then there was the production Show and Tell which was about as badly prepared as Monster if not worse as we where given a day to make a door we did it we are the X Team we always do. After that with a few weeks gap we had the Easter Concert which i always find dun as concerts interest me more that plays and that went with well a few hiccups like a girl falling down the stairs then lighting getting blamed being unable to perform blackouts meaning that stage crew have no clue when to go on for scene change but eventually the problems where all solved and it was a great evening for all.
Now all that is left to do is a few mini productions and concerts and then the main summer production which involves the whole school (oh how much fun that will be).
On a sad note the ester concert was jo’s last one and we will all be so sorry to see her leave.
